Tang Siu-pun, also known as Ah Bun, the ‘living corpse’ as he described himself, was a Hong Kong legend and a model of courage.Ah Bun graduated from Sing Yin Secondary School in 1988. He was left paralysed from the neck down in a 1991 somersault accident while rehearsing for a graduation ceremony at the Northcote College of Education. Ever after, he has been publicly striving for a dignified end to his life. Solely by holding a chopstick in his mouth to type on the computer keyboard, he wrote a 150,000-word autobiography with his utmost effort. While everyone was encouraging him to embrace life and face it positively, he persisted on expressing his one and only request, ‘I want euthanasia’.
After several tours in Europe and Asia, Théâtre de La Feuille is heading back to its origin to tell a Hong Kong story through poetic yet powerful physical theatre.
